Napoli sauce is a vegetable sauce originally from Italy, where vegetables grow very well thanks to the climate. And of course, tomatoes ripen very tasty in the Italian sun.
So Neapolitan sauce is made based on tomatoes. It is generally considered vegetarian, although there are recipes with a meat component. This sauce is served with pasta, vegetables, and pizza is made from it.
Classic recipe
We mainly use classic Neapolitan pasta sauce. But it’s also ideal for boiled chicken breast. And even as dipping sauce it is quite suitable, because it is thick enough to dip pieces of food into.

Composition:
- Celery stalk – 2 sticks
- Onion – 1 head
- Fresh basil – 0.5 bunch
- Tomatoes – 3 pcs.
- Olive oil – 2 tbsp. l.
- Salt, pepper to taste
How to make Neapolitano sauce:
- First of all, prepare the ingredients; for this, we clean the onion and chop it into small cubes.
- We clean the celery with a vegetable peeler and chop it in the same way as the onion.
- We remove the skin from the tomatoes, to do this we make a cross cut on them and put them in boiling water for 3 minutes, then we cut them no matter how.
- It’s time to start preparing the sauce, pour olive oil into a thick-bottomed saucepan and place over medium heat.
- Add the onion and celery to it and sauté until the onion is translucent, then add the tomatoes and simmer under the lid for about 30 minutes, stirring.
- Add some salt, pepper and put everything through a blender, adding basil leaves in the process.
- If the tomatoes are sour, add a little sugar and the Neapolitano pasta sauce is ready!
The classic Napoli sauce recipe can also include canned tomatoes. Especially in winter it is very convenient, because tomatoes in their own juice are very tasty.
The cooking process with these tomatoes is no different from the recipe with fresh tomatoes. If you want to make Neapolitano sauce for pizza, we recommend simmering it a little longer. This way we will thicken it a little and it will not spread over the pizza.
Quick Neapolitan sauce made from tomato paste
This Neapolitan sauce recipe is very simple and relatively quick to prepare. It is also suitable for pasta, spaghetti and pizza.
In addition, it can be used as barbecue sauce. It’s a versatile tomato sauce for rice, and is also good as a sauce for French fries. a i=6>.

- Tomato paste – 2 tbsp. l.
- Water – 200 ml.
- Garlic – 2 cloves

Recipe:
- Peel the onion, celery and garlic and chop it not very finely, as we will be blending them.
- Place them in a blender glass and add tomato paste with water and olive oil.
- We tear off the basil leaves and also add them to the future sauce, and begin to punch through.
- Once the sauce has become homogeneous, pour it into a saucepan and bring to a boil.
- Then reduce the heat, add salt and pepper, turn it off and the tomato paste Napoli sauce is ready!
This Neapolitan tomato sauce can also be made from dried basil. And of course, you don’t have to use a blender; you can leave these sauces with pieces of vegetables. But this is a matter of taste.
To thicken, you can use a little starch diluted in cold water.
