How to make mustard salad dressing at home

Mustard salad dressing

Mustard sauce for salads has been known for a very long time. Many variations have been invented with it, liquid, thick and even granular, but more on that later. It’s great as a salad dressing for fresh vegetables, but this sauce is also great with lean meat.

Honey mustard

This sweetish-mustard salad sauce will appeal to lovers of salads with a spicy taste. Also based on honey-mustard sauce, there are recipes for marinades for meat, poultry and even various kinds of pickles. So, let’s start making the sauce with honey and mustard.

We will need:

  • Liquid honey – 2 tbsp. l.
  • Homemade mustard – 1 tbsp. l.
  • Vegetable oil (odorless) – 2 tbsp. l.
  • Balsamic white vinegar – 1 tsp
  • Garlic – 1 clove.
  • Salt to taste

It’s better to use EXTRA VIRGIN olive oil, but feel free to swap balsamic vinegar for lemon juice!

Recipe:

  1. Mix honey with vinegar and oil, this will make it more liquid.
  2. Now it’s easier to stir mustard into it, which is what we do.
  3. Grind the garlic on a fine grater or pass it through a garlic press.
  4. Mix everything well and add salt to your taste.
  5. Salad dressing with honey mustard and butter is ready!

As you can see, making mustard-honey sauce is as easy as shelling pears. So, feel free to prepare mustard sauce not only for salad, it is perfect for jellied meat or jellied fish.

But this dressing is considered especially good for salad with arugula and shrimp or with tuna and tomatoes. Yes, just serve it with boiled breast, tongue or boiled pork.

With grainy mustard

Salad dressing with Dijon mustard will give a more piquant taste. And the mustard seeds burst interestingly when you taste the salad.

Composition:

  • Liquid honey – 1 tbsp. l.
  • Dijon mustard – 1 tbsp. l.
  • EXTRA VIRGIN olive oil – 100 ml.
  • Juice of half a lime
  • Salt, pepper to taste

How to do:

  1. Mix mustard, honey and lime juice.
  2. Continuing to whisk, pour in the oil in a thin stream until the sauce thickens.
  3. Salt, pepper and the French mustard dressing is ready!

It’s basically a salad dressing with mustard and honey, like the recipe above. But it is with grainy mustard that the sauce acquires its “trick”.

Sour cream and mustard sauce

You yourself, at home, can prepare a sauce from sour cream and mustard for salad. Although it is suitable for any poultry, meat and even barbecue. Even as deep sauce it is good, dip any snacks in sour cream sauce with mustard.

We will need:

  • Sour cream – 1 glass.
  • Vegetable oil 1 tbsp. l.
  • Store-bought mustard – 1 tbsp. l.
  • Lemon juice – 1 tsp.
  • Dried garlic – 0.5 tsp.
  • Ground black pepper – 1 pinch
  • Salt – to taste

How to cook:

  1. Mix the oil with pepper and garlic, let the spices open up.
  2. Add mustard to sour cream and pour in lemon juice.
  3. Now you need to combine these two mixtures into one and add salt.
  4. A simple and quick sour cream and mustard sauce for salad is ready!

This dressing can be with Dijon mustard or homemade hot mustard. You can also always spice up this sauce with red pepper and garlic. Try it as sauce for French fries.

With soy sauce

In this dressing, honey, soy sauce and mustard play a major role. But you can’t do without the other ingredients. This sauce can be added not only to vegetable salad, but also simply poured over grilled vegetables.

We will need:

  • Olive oil – 3 tbsp. l.
  • Soy sauce – 1.5 tbsp. l.
  • Any mustard – 1 tsp.
  • Lemon juice – 1 tsp.
  • Honey — 1 tsp.
  • Garlic – 1 clove

And so let’s start preparing the mustard and soy sauce sauce:

  1. Let’s start by grating the garlic and adding it to the oil.
  2. We dilute honey with soy sauce and lemon juice.
  3. Now you can put everything together with the mustard.
  4. That’s it, mustard dressing with soy sauce is ready!

Salty and sweet have always been taste enhancers. Remember, for example, a sprat sandwich with sweet tea, your mouth waters? This is where soy sauce, mustard, honey and of course garlic do their job.

As you can see, it would seem that so many sauces can be made from ordinary mustard, which we love so much for jellied meat. These are, of course, not all the options; we have collected the main ones for you, suitable for salads.

Their base is honey mustard, and you can’t imagine a better salad dressing. And you can improve the recipe for yourself based on these dressings.
